在法國北部的工業區，d'houndt+bajart建筑事務所為當地社區設計完成了一座多媒體圖書館，這個圖書館將作為文化中心使用，以帶動社區活力。該項目是對原有舊紡織廠的磚房進行改造和翻新，同時又擴建了一個傾斜而出的結構，緊貼著磚房的立面。建筑由三個獨立的體塊組成的，光線通過鏤空墻和天頂透入建筑物中，使其更別具一格。公共功能部分被安置在建筑的首層，而上面的第二層則預留著，以用于這座圖書館在以后進行各種活動而用。通過參照有機物，延伸出來的體塊立面上采用六邊形格子圖案，宛若從地平面生長出來般，以隨機的形態布滿整個建筑立面。

In an industrial area of northern france, d’houndt+bajart architectes has completed the construction of a media library that serves as a vibrant cultural hub for the local community. Composed of three individual volumes, ‘la mediatheque andree chedid’ features perforated walls and ceilings that filter light inside the building. Public functions are hosted at ground level, while above, the first floor is reserved for events specific to the media library.The hexagonal patterning of the extension’s elevations reference organic matter, emerging from the ground plane and spreading across the fa?ades in a seemingly random manner.The project involves the renovation of the previously existing textile factory and the addition of a new structure that leans elegantly against the brick fa?ade.
