有一次我經過一座人口眾多的城市，頭腦里為將來記下了
它的場面、它的建筑、它的風土人情、它的傳統。
但是現在，對整個城市我只記得一位我偶然遇到的女人，
因為愛而記住了她。
日復一日夜復一夜我們都在一起——其他的
我早已遺忘多時。
我肯定，我只記住這個熱情地投入我懷抱的女人。
我們又一次漫步四方，我們相愛，我們又一次分離。
她又一次牽著我的手，我不應該離去。
我看見她在我身邊，痛苦和顫抖，雙唇無言。

從前聽歌，硬搖滾樂隊的慢歌都特別好聽，比如 The Rolling Stone 有 Angie，Guns N’ Roses 有 Don't Cry，Aerosmith 有 Dream On，Ozzy Osbourne 有 Goodbye to Romance。
惠特曼大多數詩給我的印象也像是虬髯客砸吉他，拿讀睡推薦過的惠特曼舉例，寫大海是“古老強勁的歌”，寫秋天是“秋天的貨輪已經噴煙離岸”，寫冬天是“一聲聲農夫的旋律，鏈枷的旋律”，都很 Hard Rock。
今天這首詩，一開始也是面向未來的呀，雄心勃勃來到城市，吞并八荒，是要“為將來”寫作！
結果，偶遇了一個女人，生離死別，畫風就柔情凄傷了起來……
整個城市的將來都被拋諸腦后，唯一記住的是過去那一位戀人。多么好，好得讓人想砸臺燈！
